The Mining Charter: In conversation with eNCA Business News

In an interview with business anchor Rofhiwa Madzena on television station eNCA this morning, Alchemy Law senior partner Wildu du Plessis, further unpacked the importance of striking a balance between transformation and growth in the mining industry. 

The conversation focused on the shortcomings of the Charter, the opportunities of low-hanging fruits for the industry, significant transportation infrastructure woes that are hindering industry growth, Charter progress that has been made such as Black ownership, the importance of embedding ESG, and mine safety. 

In concluding, Wildu reiterated the challenges of compliance for both large industry players and junior miners and the financing difficulties encountered in order to raise funds for achieving compliance and to further exploration that is needed to grow the industry.
