Alchemy welcomes new corporate and commercial partner, Justin Benjamin, to their team

Alchemy is pleased to announce the appointment of a new partner, Justin Benjamin, to further strengthen and increase capacity in the firm’s corporate and commercial practice area.

Justin has a wealth of experience in the corporate and commercial, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) expertise areas across multiple industries, with specific interest in the mining and agricultural sectors.

His background includes managing multinational legal teams across African jurisdictions and developing robust cross-border risk mitigation strategies.

Justin’s philosophy focuses on developing strong client relationships through the delivery of tailor-made legal solutions and practical commercial advice. His business negotiation and cross-border leadership skills stand him in good stead to ensure he adds measurable value to clients’ strategic goals and outcomes.

Admitted as an attorney in 2011, his background highlights include spearheading legal strategy and business development for an established commodity trading, logistics and distribution company; heading up the Africa regional legal division for an agricultural trading organisation with the highlight of conceptualising and implementing a Lean Transformation Programme; and acting as Group senior legal advisor for a local mining and minerals trading company.

Senior partner, Morné van der Merwe, says, “We are excited to welcome Justin to the Alchemy team and look forward to his contribution in the corporate and commercial expertise areas, as we continue to deliver strategic, client-centric legal advice to our growing client base.”
