Alchemy welcomes new dispute resolution partner, Pierre Burger, to their team

Alchemy is pleased to announce the appointment of a new partner, Pierre Burger, to further strengthen and bolster the firm’s dispute resolution arm, meet our clients’ needs and a growing pipeline of interesting work.

Pierre is an internationally respected strategic dispute resolution practitioner and brings with him a wealth of experience in dispute resolution and litigation.

Originally from Cape Town and with degrees from the University of Cape Town and the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, he qualified as an attorney in 2001 and was admitted as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2022 providing him with dual legal qualifications.

Pierre is an accredited arbitrator with the Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and served on the Management Committees of the South African Branch of CIArb as well as the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA), and the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. He is regularly sought-out as a keynote speaker for both local and international arbitration conferences and seminars and is often interviewed by the media on topical, contentious business-related issues.

His expertise includes dealing with complex, high-value commercial disputes across a range of industries including banking, property, technology and innovation, company and shareholder disputes, and contentious regulatory. Pierre has a particular interest in international arbitration and the growing field of Technology Law.

Pierre joins Alchemy from Werksmans Attorneys where he has practised for the past 18 years and held a directorship position in their Dispute Resolution department.
